In this article we will continue to explore more of video to text transcription using other methods. You can also check the first part of video to text transcription article in the link given below:
Link: Transcription Part 1
Here we will understand how to utilize web tool such as speech logger to see how we can transcribe. But also remember, even in this method, we will be utilizing YouTube and we will also add one more method, which is Virtual Audio Cable is a driver which is available online for download. All you need to do is download Virtual Audio Cable, extract it and install it on your computer.
Let us quickly begin with the demonstration.
First step: Go to your browser and search for “Virtual Audio Cable”
I would suggest you to go with the 2nd link that is displayed in your search result
Download the software
After downloading, extract the files to your local drive
Install the setup file
So what does this Virtual Audio Cable exactly does is, it records the audio that’s getting played internally in your system.
After the installation of the software, a quick launch will be made available in the taskbar of your system. Right click on the Virtual Audio Cable quick launch and select the Sounds option. Here an option window will pop up.
Select the Recording tab, select Line 1 option and select Set Default option
Under the Playback tab, make similar changes. Make Line 1 as the default option.
After setting all that up, go to web browser again and search for Web Speech API
Select the first link that is displayed in your search result and open it new tab
Open a new tab in the web browser and search for Speech Logger
Open the first link that comes up with the search result
Here, I have chosen a video on YouTube which is in English for the demonstration purpose
After opening the tab, right click on the Virtual Audio Cable quick launch and select the Sounds option.
After setting Line 1 as default in both Playback and Recording tab, play the video, and go to Web Speech API tab.
You will notice that the audio is automatically being transcribed
The same thing can be done in the Speech Logger tab as well, after you click on the mic button on the top center of the page
This will automatically enable your computer to understand whatever is being played in your system and allows transcribing of the same.
The text content once completed can be copied and pasted on your word document and can be submitted to the clients. These methods are very useful in saving time during transcription. Especially, when you have bulk videos or audios that need transcription.
But also ensure you cross verify the content that was automatically transcribed to be on the safer side of high accuracy.
